Yes, those shoes were stylish some time ago! My father had two or three pairs, handmade and no doubt expensive. They stood next to the pair made from ostrich leather which is much brighter and bumpier. I personally prefer Crocs.

This picture followed me and it seems as if the harvesters embrace the sheaves, like milking the udders of the earth, which is a very ancient image. I have come across certain legends where the primal humanity lived on the Earth's milk, their first nourishment. Every real harvest still has an element of this memory.

A honey/wax glove! What a wonderful metaphor. The bees are the social artists of nature. They have, as a species, achieved a societal perfection we are still lacking. What seems a monarchy is really a matriarchal society in which the so-called queen acts as the mediator between the needs of the hive and the needs of the environment. The queen, rather than being a ruler, is ruled by the totality of the hive, the entity I call the bee in all bees. The honey wax glove is really a perfect antidote to the snakeskin glove because we have to learn to handle social affairs with the ideal of the beehive in mind. Thank you Alicia, just brilliant!

I love the caretaker idea that is embedded in many (if not all) traditions. Noel Nannup's' (Western Australian indigenous elder) story of the Carers of Everything tells of this. To me the important thing is the same principle has to continuously change in order to remain itself: to be a caretaker today requires us to resurrect the old principle in a new and appropriate form. The threefolding vision is an attempt to become caretakers in a time of individualism.

Thanks for your thoughts. The problem of technology is perhaps the most important political and meta-political problem of our times. It is very much a matter of integration that requires a consciousness of its potential as well as its dangers. It is my firm belief that technology is a collective creation and will therefore need collective effort to master it. Key to this is that our ethical awareness has to be at par with our technological progress, has to parallel our progress. There is lot of work to do in this respect.
